Just a note to thank you for all your help. Everything worked out well.

As you will remember we left your house at 7:00 am in the light rain. We did, of course, take the Valcarlos route. And in fact, we hardly had to walk along the road at all. The coquilles do point pilgrims to the alternate routes which parallel the road and are often quite pretty. Often they were "short cuts" which means that although they shortened the number of kilometers walked, as they often cut across valleys, we were going up and down more than had we stayed on the road. There were many other pilgrims who took this alternate route, too. So we didn't have to worry about trucks whizzing by. It did rain the entire time..... until it snowed! And yes, we did run into significant snow on the last and steeper portion of the trail. Ray and I were happy we had brought our walking sticks along!
Due to the wet and cold weather we never got to stop for lunch although we certainly stop briefly to gobble down high energy snacks. So the good part was that we arrived at Roncevalles at 2:00pm, making for a 7 hour hike. We were very happy to show up at the Hotel Posada and see our luggage was there. We were curious, because we were told the road had been closed, but Caroline was able to deliver them. And as we had arrived so very early, we did call Angel and ask if he could come and pick us up earlier than the 5:30 pm time we had scheduled through you. He came promptly at 3:30 as per our new plan. He was very nice and drove us to San Sebastian as requested. Poor guy, though as we got stuck in terrific traffic as we neared San Sebastian and it took much longer to get into the town than I'm sure he expected. And probably to get out of town, too. We paid him significantly more than the 120 euros he quoted as our thanks. We were very appreciative of his services.
We had such a lovely stay at your house and we so greatly appreciated your help. Frankly without your research on our behalf about transport to San Sebastian and your excellent contact for the taxi, we wouldn't have been able to organize that portion of our trip. Many thanks again .

I arrived at Tims door on my bicycle in January 2010. The Alps, massif central and the final coup de grace the Col d`Osquich had taken their toll. I had an upper respiratory track infection and had thought to spend a couple of nights at Errecaldia to recover.

However our breakfast conversations usually included the phrase “a couple of nights more” and I eventually spent around two weeks. I would have spent “a couple of nights more”, but Tim managed to coerce me out of the door.

I don't know what Tim expects really, when presented with a warm welcome, warm water and warm rooms its not easy to leave.

Did I mention breakfast? Wonderful bread, excellent Basque cheese and cured ham.

My advice: stay at the Pilgrims Refuge, its more authentic and means there will be a room for me when Im next here.

Hello Tim

Ive only just got back from Spain but I just wanted to say a big thanks to you for a great stay of two days at the end of July....thoroughly enjoyed my visit and thanks especially for your help getting the bike sorted so quickly so I could do the Camino Santiago. Your breakfasts are definitely the best on the whole Camino and your coffee is to die for!! Many thanks for your hospitality and help..would recommend your B&B very highly.

I completed the Camino by 14 August and had a great time though how the poor bike managed the mountains I dont know but it was a wonderful experience and something Im so glad I did. Imagine I read about the Camino in that book all that time ago and now Ive done it! thats procrastination sorted!!!

thanks Tim for all your hospitality and help and for the great breakfasts.

Hoping you are keeping well and all the best

Maria & Paulo

I stayed at this beautiful B/B in June and had a wonderful stay. The food was very good and the views were wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is situated also for a scenic drive around this area as well as short drive to Spain. Tim is very friendly and welcoming and will visit again very soon.

Tim
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed my stay at your bed and breakfast. (I stayed Sept 26, 27th ) You have a very nice place and I was very comfortable there. I like the location out of the crowds but still close to everything. The breakfast was excellent. I enjoyed talking to you about Jamie Oliver. I am just returning to Houston after almost a month. I went on to Paris, Santorini Greece, London and Oxford. Hope to return to St Jean Pied de Port sometime.
cheers

SmileI arrived Tim`s B&B late in the evening, hungry and thursty and he treated me great. For two nights I was allowed to stay in one of these beautyfull, cosy and quiet rooms while it was raining dogs outside. I realy enjoyed this place with its friendly and nice Tim.

Me and family spent one night at Tim's B&B Errecaldia and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. lovely breakfast. Very well situated with lovely view, comfortable rooms and just a short stroll down to the historic town centre. Tim gave us very usefull advice on the town/area and the restaurant recommendation was spot on. I can definitely recommend his establishment to anyone.
